Meet the Team
Dan Holt 
Managing Director
Having graduated from Leicester Uni in 2006, Dan joined an IT training company where he bounced between operations and marketing. 18 months later Dan was asked to kick off ProNetExpert from his bedroom, a company which has since gone on to be a leading global provider of Cisco training and consultancy. His real interest was always on the internet, however, and at the start of 2010 he founded The SME Marketing Company with the young whippersnappers James Macfarlane and Vicky Dean.

Nick Pateman
Technical Director
Nick graduated from the University of Leicester where he studied Business Economics. When he wasn’t studying, he spent an unhealthy amount of time researching Internet Marketing strategies. At 17, he had implemented his first successful SEO campaign and 5 years later he wound up at SME as an expert strategist. When Nick isn’t crunching numbers and browsing through algorithms, he continues his successful career as an online poker player.
Technical Director

Vicky Dean
Operations Manager
Vicky has a number of years’ experience in administration and event organisation. When she is not cultivating an unhealthy passion for lists and rotas, she enjoys reading classic novels and pretending to be Jane Austen. This love of literature is seen in her work at SME as a copywriter and blogger. Out the office Vicky unites her other passion, paper, with her online skills and runs a card making and crafts blog.

Sian Savage
Senior Copywriter and Project Manager
Siân graduated from the University of Leicester with a BA:EU degree in English Language and Literature. As part of her degree, Siân enrolled in a series of cultural studies classes in Holland for 10months before returning for to Leicester and joining the Student’s Union sales and promotions team. Combining her interest in marketing with superb written skills, Sian joined The SME Marketing Company initially as a copywriter; a position which has now developed into a senior project management role with Sian overseeing all off page optimisation. In her spare time Siân enjoys meeting up with her University friends from across the country and is a huge fan of Eastenders!

Shovan Sargunam
Head of Design and Development
Shovan moved around a lot while he was growing up, from India to Dubai back to India and then finally on to the UK – the only constant being that he was never more than an inch away from a sketch book! At age 14 he set up The SCube (www.thescube.com) and sold logos to small businesses before moving into web design and coding.Whilst studying at university, Shovan met the guys and girls from SME and instantly saw an opportunity to make his mark. Despite being all over their SEO he couldn’t help but feel that their lives lacked colour, so he offered a little creative inspiration and became Head of Design and Development.

James Macfarlane

Avid teenage mutant ninja turtle fan specialises in marketing online and avoiding cameras. Managing and creating sites such as MobileInsurance.co.uk, Babynames.co.uk and Gold.co.uk, James was a founding member of The SME Marketing Company. He started internet marketing when he was 16 and hasn’t stopped nerding it up online since.
